Why use your Getty Images Demand Letter Response template letter rather than go to a solicitor?
Getty Images Demand Letter Response
Clearly if you go to a specialist lawyer you should get good tailored advice. BUT most people want to dispose of these sorts of claims quickly and inexpensively. If you go to a lawyer they will have to comply with all the regulatory obligations imposed on them by the Law Society. This will mean subjecting you to Money Laundering scrutiny, sending you a client care letter and charging you an hourly rate.
There is a website (http://copyrightinfringement.org.uk) that offers “standard” letters you can use when dealing with image libraries. Furthermore they claim “Our experience to date is that Getty have not pursued the claims against people we have helped”.
The advertised cost of these standard letters is £150.00
Interestingly this website also advertises a specialist (lawyer) Liz Ward at Virtuoso Legal – However on looking the website for this company I was unable to see any published prices for their services, so heeding my mum’s advice regarding shops that do not display prices I looked elsewhere.
